SKYBRAND

Thunder Regent.jfif

THUNDER REGENT

The Thunder Regent is the sovereign of Skybrand—a shard-forged monarch born from the biome’s eternal storm, wielding dominion over wind and lightning with godlike precision. Its form towers like a living tempest, a silhouette wrapped in roiling thunderclouds and armored in shardsteel plates that glint through the vapor. A jagged crown of shard spires arcs above its head, crackling with violet lightning, while twin storm cores burn in its eyes like molten shardlight. Vast enough to blot out the sun, its presence turns daylight into tempest twilight, and every movement reshapes the sky into a weapon.

The Regent’s command of the atmosphere is absolute. It bends currents into shard-charged hurricanes, summons lightning as blades, and hurls wind like a hammer to crush stone and steel. Its voice is a resonance pulse that shatters fortifications and armor, echoing across the storm like a divine decree. Beneath its reign, Boltkin, Tempest Wraiths, and Skyrazors strike in perfect synchrony, forming an aerial war host that sweeps the skies clean of resistance. When the clouds spiral and the horizon burns violet, the Regent has risen—and the storm itself has chosen its king.

The Storm Leviathan is the terror of Skybrand—a colossal serpent born from shard energy and the fury of endless tempests. It coils through the clouds like a living storm, its translucent scales threaded with shard-crystal veins that glow like fractured lightning. A jagged crown of shard spines arcs above its head, crackling with static energy, while eyes burn like twin storm cores. Its body spans hundreds of feet, vast enough to encircle entire spires, and every ripple of its coils sends shockwaves through the sky, blotting out the sun in a shroud of vapor and shardlight.

The Leviathan bends the storm to its will, conjuring cyclonic winds and shard-charged lightning surges that rip anchor rigs from ridges and tear aerial terrain apart. It strikes from cloudbanks with catastrophic force—diving, grabbing prey to take up to it's domain, then hurling them into the abyss. Thunderous resonance pulses fracture sound and induce vertigo, while arcs of white lightning leap from its body, vaporizing armor and scattering formations.

When the horizon churns and the clouds spiral into a violet maelstrom, the Leviathan has risen—a reaper has come.

Boltkin.jfif

Boltkin are shard-infused storm elementals born when Skybrand’s shard energy fuses with volatile atmospheric currents. These biome guardians manifest as humanoid silhouettes of swirling storm vapor, their limbs jagged with shard-crystal growths that glint like fractured lightning.

Boltkin enforce the storm’s dominion by amplifying shard-charged tempests, creating zones of perpetual lightning and wind shear. In combat, they unleash shard-infused bolts from afar before closing in with razor-shard limbs that can puncture armor and sever limbs.

When the air hums and the clouds flash in Skybrand, the storm has found its soldiers.

BOLTKIN

Tempest Wraiths are spectral remnants of those lost in shard infused storms and warriors who perished in shard-saturated tempests, their souls fused with the storm’s resonance to become living echoes of rage and despair.

These wraiths amplify the chaos of the skies, intensifying shard-charged lightning and wind shear while striking with bolts of condensed shard energy.

Their whispers ride the wind, mimicking voices of lost comrades to fracture morale, while prolonged exposure induces vertigo and hesitation. If you hear a whisper on the wind, it's a Tempest Wraith trying to entice you into it's ranks.

TEMPEST WRAITHS

Skyrazors are shard-corrupted raptors born from the high-altitude resonance of Skybrand, embodying predatory dominance in the open skies. Massive and lethal, they soar above jagged shard spires with wings lined in crystal feathers that glint like shattered glass. Their beaks and talons are reinforced with shardsteel ridges, capable of piercing armor and stone, while twin shard-lit eyes burn blue, granting perfect vision through fog and storm. With wingspans reaching twenty feet and bodies as large as warhorses, they rule the thermals like living weapons.

Skyrazors hunt with ruthless precision, executing high-speed dives and talon strikes before unleashing volleys of razor-shard feathers mid-flight. Their piercing screeches resonate through the biome, disorienting squads and masking their approach, while violent updrafts from their wingbeats destabilize climbers and anchor rigs.

During attack runs, their feathers explode into shards, turning the sky into a storm of glass and death. When the wind howls and the ridges tremble, the hunt has begun—and the sky belongs to the razors.

SKYRAZORS

Sparkmites are shard-tainted insects, swarming in dense clouds to feed on static energy and shard dust. These beetle-like creatures shimmer with faint electric arcs across shard-crystal carapaces, their transparent wings vibrating at high frequency to generate surges of static. No larger than a coin, they move in coordinated clusters, turning the air into a living hazard.

Sparkmites infest anchor rigs and shardflare equipment, short-circuiting defenses while amplifying storm activity. In combat, they overwhelm with micro-shocks that overload nervous systems, paralyzing prey before larger predators strike.

Prolonged exposure to their shocks can induce paralysis or cardiac failure, and their ability to disable shardflare anchors within minutes makes them one of Skybrand’s most insidious threats. When the static hum rises and the air begins to crackle, the swarm is already upon you.

SKYBRAND CRAFTING MATERIALS

Skybrand’s storm-forged terrain is rich with volatile materials shaped by shard resonance and endless tempests. Crystalline nodes known as Stormwake Cores lie embedded within shattered spires, storing immense electrical energy that Wardens harvest for reactive armor, special rounds for pistols and Shardlances and shock-resistant gear.

Twisting through the cloud-laced ridges, Skyvine Tendrils coil like living conduits, their conductive fibers essential for crafting Wakeflare charges and energy-dispersing gauntlets.

Beneath the storm-scorched roots, the bark of Thunderroot trees carries a latent surge of shard energy; ground into fine powder, it becomes a rare alchemical agent used in potions that sharpen reflexes and accelerate nerve response.

These resources are as dangerous as they are valuable, often guarded by Boltkin patrols or hidden within zones of violent wind shear. Extraction requires precision and timing—one misstep in the storm can turn a harvest into a death sentence.
